New Here?

We know visiting a church for the first time can be a bit overwhelming. That’s why we do our best to make you feel like family from the moment you walk through the big red door!

What to Expect on a Sunday

Our service starts at 9:45 AM and usually lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes. We recommend arriving about 15 minutes early so you have time to park, grab a coffee, check in kids (if needed), and settle in. We’re located in a North Buffalo neighborhood, so street parking is the move.

As you walk up to the building, someone from our hospitality team will be there to welcome you and answer any questions you have.

You’ll find locally roasted coffee (yes, mugs included—it’s cozier that way) and a welcome table where you can pick up a free Anchor mug, fill out a connection card, and take your next step whenever you’re ready.

Flow of Service

Every Sunday at Anchor is shaped to create space for people to connect with Jesus in a real way.

Our service begins with a welcome from a host with a few quick updates about what’s going on in the life of our church. From there, we move into a time of worship through music, where you’re invited to engage freely—whether that’s lifting your hands, kneeling, clapping, standing still, or quietly taking it in.

After that, we spend about 30 minutes in teaching from the Bible, exploring a passage or topic in a way that’s accessible, honest, and meant to help you follow Jesus in your everyday life.

We end each service with time to respond—through communion (open to anyone who is following Jesus), prayer with someone on our prayer team, or just sitting quietly and reflecting on what God might be doing in your heart.

What About Kids?

You’ll check in your kids at the Anchor Kids table just to the right after entering the sanctuary. First-time families will receive name tags with room for important info like allergies and a parent pick-up tag for dismissal.

  • Nursery (Ages 0–3): Drop off before service

  • Lower Elementary (Ages 3–Kindergarten): Drop off before service

  • Upper Elementary (1st–4th Grade): Start in the sanctuary and are dismissed to their class before the teaching

Our volunteers are all background-checked and trained to create safe, welcoming spaces for kids to engage with Jesus.

Common Questions

Honestly—whatever you’re comfortable in. You’ll see everything from hoodies to dresses to Bills jerseys. No pressure, no dress code.

Yes. While our main entrance has stairs, there’s a mobility-accessible elevator at the back of the building. Let us know if you need help getting in.

Absolutely. You’ll often see students and kids helping with tech, welcoming at the door, serving in Anchor Kids, or playing on the worship team.

On months with a 5th Sunday, kids outside of nursery stay with us in the service the entire time. We love having them in the room!

Additionally, we typically have two services on Easter and Christmas Eve.

Fill out a connection card at the welcome table or chat with one of our team members. We’ll help you plug into a group, class, or team based on where you are and what you’re looking for.
