Who We Are

Our mission is to engage and empower all people to know and follow Jesus.

A Home for Hope in Buffalo

Anchor Church exists to be a home for hope—a place where people can encounter Jesus, experience transformation, and join in the renewal of our city. From the beginning, we’ve been committed to making disciples, building authentic community, and being a tangible expression of God’s Kingdom in Buffalo.

As we continue to grow, our foundation remains the same: Jesus at the center, the Word shaping our lives, and the Spirit leading us into mission.

Our Values

All People

All people matter to God. No matter how far away from Him they might seem, they matter to God. Jesus demonstrated again and again that people’s social status, race, gender, behavior, or religious beliefs did not stop Him from loving people.

Gospel-Centered

The good news is that God has not given up on us or this world. God’s plan is to win back His children and this world with love. This vision of a world restored – full of love, peace, and justice is the center of every decision we make.

Scripture

We believe in the power and authority of the Bible. The Bible is the foundation for our faith and the guide for how we live.

Intentional Outreach

We work to overcome barriers to faith and create opportunities for every person to see and hear the gospel of Jesus.

Sacrificial Generosity

We give our time, talents, and resources in ways that reflect Jesus’ example. Generosity means more than money—it’s a willingness to serve beyond what’s comfortable.

Spirit-Filled Environments

We want to give God space to transform people from the inside out. This means creating environments where people can experience God’s presence, be challenged by His Word, and grow in their faith and relationship with Him.

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs are rooted in the historic Christian faith and shaped by the Wesleyan tradition.

God

We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who has revealed Himself through Scripture and is actively at work in the world.

The Father

The Father is the source of all that exists, both material and spiritual. He created us in His image and relates to us as a loving Father—seeking, receiving, and restoring all who turn to Him.

The Son

Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He made a way for us to be reconciled to God and welcomed into His Kingdom.

The Holy Spirit

The Spirit is present and active, empowering believers to live holy lives, gifting us for ministry, and leading us into the mission of God in the world.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It shapes our beliefs, our decisions, and how we live every part of our lives.

Salvation

Salvation is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus. We respond to this grace by following Him in obedience, love, and a life of ongoing transformation.

The Church

The Church is God’s people, called to live in community, grow as disciples, and share the hope of Jesus with the world. We believe the local church is essential to God’s mission.

Mission

We exist to engage and equip all people to know and follow Jesus—living as everyday disciples in our homes, neighborhoods, and city.
