Anchored in Hope.

Expressed in Love.

Welcome to Anchor Church in Buffalo, NY. Anchor is a community of  people who believe our greatest calling in life is to love our community, love people, and follow Jesus. We are not the church you grew up in. We believe people are sacred, not buildings. We value community over programs. And we love everyone. In our community, no perfect people are allowed.

Join us for a Sunday. Whether or not you have more doubt than faith, more questions than answers, feel more hurt than love - You will always be welcome with us.  So be part of our movement. Join us in loving Buffalo with a  crazy love. Join us as we create a new community. Let us empower you to be a part of making our city whole again.

Welcome home.

Located in the heart of North Buffalo, Anchor is a city church - In the City, for the City.

We are a community of people from all walks of life - different ages, races, and stages of life. The great thing is, we get along great! We love, support, encourage, challenge, and live together in community. Come visit us on a Sunday. We think you'll be surprised.

Did we mention bottomless coffee?

Hospitality Team

Stephanie Forsythe started attending Anchor in April 2016 and quickly became engaged in our  community  and vision to share God's love with our neighborhood and beyond. She now facilitates our hospitality team - give her a shout out next time you enjoy a steaming hot cup of coffee during service!

Anchor Kids is a fun, safe, engaging environment for kids to
interact with each other and learn about Jesus.

You will find Anchor Kids meeting on the lower level, follow the signs that say Anchor Kids Check-In and one of our team members will get you sorted out.

Safety is a priority for Anchor Kids too. We provide a secure check-in/check-out procedure to keep your mind at ease while you attend the gathering, and a paging system to let you know if there are any special needs.  One of our trained team members will walk you through the whole process.  Also, all of the Anchor Kids staff and volunteers have been background checked and screened before being allowed to work with children.  If you would like more information about our security guidelines and procedures then please email and we will connect with you.

Anchor Kids Ministry Director

Eli Beavers joined Anchor's staff this year as an intern through B.U.M.P (Buffalo Urban Mission Partnership). Eli has focused his time with us on developing and enhancing curriculum, events, and opportunities for engagement with our kids, their families, and our North Buffalo neighborhood.

TO be anchored in the hope of jesus that is expressed
in love, community, and service to others

Anchor Church held its first public service in January 2016, but that's not the whole story. Anchor Church started in the hearts of Steve & Lindsey in the Fall of 2013. They spent the following year in prayer and in preparation to make sure they were not crazy and that this was really something that God was doing. It involved many visits to North Buffalo and even commuting to take their daughter to Pre-K in the neighborhood. The Johnson's moved into the neighborhood at the end of that year, just in time to celebrate Christmas.

In 2015, Anchor Church began in the Johnson's home as they started forming a small group of people who had a similar heart for the neighborhood and city. That year was also an opportunity to become part of the neighborhood they love. They became neighbors, friends, community leaders, designated drivers, ears that listen, and a pastor to people who didn't have one.

That was our beginning, but the story is just starting. Who knows - maybe your story is part of Anchor's next chapter.
